Analysis of Acoustic–Magnetic Fields Induced by Underwater Pressure Wave in a Finite-Depth Ocean

As underwater disturbances (natural or artificial) occur in the ocean, moving seawater crossing geomagnetic fields will produce weak circular currents. These currents can induce measurable magnetic fields, which might be useful for monitoring ocean internal waves using aeromagnetic survey. In this research, a spectral-element method (SEM) based on Gauss–Lobatto–Legendre (GLL) polynomials is presented to characterize field induced by pressure waves. A concise mathematical model established through combining acoustic wave equations and Maxwell’s equations. Specifically, acoustic–magnetic coupling simulation adopts nodal-based SEM analysis edge-based electromagnetic analysis. The proposed has spectral accuracy, as error exponentially decreases with order of basis functions. Additionally, adopting an independent modeling mesh scheme two solvers, respectively, waste computing resources avoided. experimental demonstrates that mechanically propagate wave, producing pseudo-radiation phenomenon. signals these may extend tens kilometers exist hours under certain circumstances, provide theoretical target identification via high-sensitivity atomic magnetometer.
